Gold farms are the main nether based farm that people make because they also like all mob fams can generate xp and gold which on servers is used for golden apples and trading with piglins.
A basic all mob farm has a few key components that make it function properly. The first one is a spawning area. You can either use multiple platforms or one bigger patform but the design you use for the spawning area depends heavily on. The kill method. The kill method is the most important part of any farm because if you can't kill the mobs that are spawning then it won't produce any items.
Gold farms are nether based farms the produce golden nuggets, and rotten flesh, and if you use looting it can also produce golden ingots and golden swords. The golden swords are usually junk because who need 1,000,000 golden swords. Sometimes golden swords can be taken from a gold farm to mess with your friends by filling all their chests with these one durrability golden swords.
Storage systems are also a very important part of any gold farm because most of them produce so many items that it becomes almost impossible to sort it all with just your inventory. Most gold farms have a more complex storage system than just hoppers because they can only transfer 2.5 items per second and that is exteremly slow for a gold farm. If it was only transfering 2.5 items per second for an hour stright you would have only 111 gold blocks per hour.
Gold farms are the best source of gold in the entire game.

A gold farm can be built above or below the nether roof.

Spawning blocks are very important because it allows only certian mobs to spawn in your farm depending on which ones you use.

This is how you lure your pigmen into either a fall or a player kill chamber. Depending on the method you use it can make it over twice as fast as alternatives.

Looting massively increases the ammount of gold that pigmen drop and also allow them to drop golden ingots.
